Yoga requires some major things that beginners may have never done before. This might open up someone’s body for injuries which makes it necessary to follow the Yoga regime in every manner. Thus, yoga requires following guidelines must be followed by everyone.

Things to remember before the practice:

  • Yoga should be practiced calmly, openly and in a peaceful environment as it brings together physical and mental disciplines to achieve a peaceful body and mind, which helps in managing stress and anxiety and keeps you relaxed.
  • Yoga should be practiced empty stomach because it provides the body chance to “efficiently harness the energy from the energy reserves of the body, such as fat.” Burning fat is much more effective than eating lesser food. 
  • Yoga must be practiced on an empty bladder and bowel.
  • is suggested to use a yoga mat, a mattress, or a folded blanket with comfortable or loose clothes on it because it makes body movement easy. 
  • It is recommended that yoga should not be practiced in a hurry, exhaustion, or illness. It is also recommended to consult a doctor before doing yoga if you have any chronic disease/ pain/ cardiac history.
  • Yoga therapists should be consulted during menstruation and pregnancy.

  • The practice session should begin with a prayer or invocation as it helps to calm the mind.
  • Yogic exercises must be carried out comfortably, slowly, and with awareness of the body and breath.
  • Unless specifically instructed to do so throughout the session, avoid holding your breath.
  • Unless otherwise indicated, breathing should always be done through the nose.
  • At no point should the body be jerked or held tightly.
  • Follow the exercises in the best way according to your body.
  • It takes time to get good results, so perseverance and regular practice are essential.
  • There are limitations and contra-indications to every Yoga practice, and these contra-indications should always be kept in mind.
  • A yoga class should conclude with deep quiet or meditation.

Things to remember after practicing yoga:

  • After 30 minutes of practice, one can bathe but it is restricted during that time. 
  • Always give your body about 30 minutes to re-acclimate itself, and never eat directly after yoga. It is also recommended to eat a light meal after practicing yoga. 
  • It is good to take a message if you want or can also take a rest.
